Possibly the most challenging hunt of all antelope species due its exceptional eyesight and the terrain it prefers to inhabit. Occurring in mountainous, open terrain, it can sight the hunter long before the hunter has seen it! Glassing mountain slopes for many hours, linked with an overdose of patience, this animal can be hunted successfully. Should you take one of these it can be considered a coup as not many are taken in a season. The animals are a non-conspicuous, light gray color with a white belly and bushy white tail that is displayed when the animals run. The horns are straight and look like two pencils. A single male can join a female herd (2-6 females) during the mating season. Solitary males are not uncommon. A flat shooter will be more than enough as these are small animals. One would want to avoid extremely fast shooters as they could damage the trophy/cape. A well-placed shot with a 270 or 7X57 would be sufficient. Shots can be up to 200 yards.
Only the males have horns.
