Cape Town
Cape Town is one of the worlds most imposing cities , it lies cradled between the waters of the Atlantic and the cliffs of Table Mountain. The city is well positioned, and a drive of less than an hour in any direction reveals areas as diverse as the whale coast, the wine lands and the quiet desolation of the West Coast. The view which can be enjoyed of Cape Town and the surrounding peninsula from Table Mountain has often been noted as one of the finest views of the world.
It is a vibrant cosmopolitan city with a character that is truly South African. The city has in recent years become one of the world's foremost attractions and few who visit her shores leave without a sense of appreciation.
Garden Route
The Garden Route is generally regarded as the area between Mosselbay in the South and Port Elizabeth in the North . The region is characterized by a narrow coastal plain which is separated from the interior of the country by a series of rigid mountain ranges. The coastal plain is well watered and is one of the only regions in South Africa where rain occurs both in summer and winter.
Golden beaches, indigenous forests and dramatic mountain scenery provide the perfect setting for a visit to the area. A variety of activities can be enjoyed in the area ranging from dolphin watching cruises to forest hikes and a myriad of others. Those who do not feel as active always have the opportunity to kick back and relax on one of many beaches.
Mpumalanga Highlands
Not as well known as some of the other highlights in Southern Africa, the Mpumalanga Highlands lie roughly halfway between Johannesburg and the Kruger National Park. The area is a windswept grassland which forms the divide between the central plateau and the Lowveld Big Five area. An abundance of waterfalls occur on the Eastern Escarpment in an area where most of the rivers which flow eastward and on to the Kruger National Park have their source.
The region offers visitors a rich history and many outdoor activities which can be enjoyed in a highland setting. Amongst the activities fly fishing for the golden, brown and especially rainbow trout has in recent years become extremely popular. The elevation above sea level ensures a temperate climate even in the middle of summer.
Kruger National Park
Kruger is one of the world’s most well known and important conservation areas. The Park stretches a distance of 350 km from North to South and on average between 50 and 60 km from East to West. To the North it is bordered by the Limpopo River and Zimbabwe, to the South, sub tropical farmland and Mozambique to the East. To the West the Park is bordered by some of the world's premier private game reserves and lodges. Most of these share a common unfenced border with Kruger and collectively the area has become known as the Greater Kruger National Park.
A photographic safari in Kruger is sure to be a memorable experience, whether you choose to stay in one of the comfortable bungalows inside the National Park or at one of the super luxurious lodges.
